Former India pacer Zaheer Khan picked Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammad Shami while choosing the top fast bowlers in the bowling category of the 'Fab Four'.
He mentioned that both Bumrah and Shami played a critical role in the Indian team's success in Test cricket over the years.
Zaheer named his top 4–5 pacers among the current crop of bowlers in international cricket. He cited the names of Kagiso Rabada from South Africa, Pat Cummins and Josh Hazlewood from Australia.
"India have been performing exceptionally well and have been part of two World Test Championship finals. India have done well consistently in all conditions. So, I would surely pick Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammad Shami in my Fab Four. Apart from them, it would be Kagiso Rabada and Josh Hazlewood. Pat Cummins is also one of the contenders. These are the four or five bowlers who have made an impact in Test cricket consistently," Zaheer Khan told Cricbuzz.
Bumrah is currently plying his trade in the ongoing home Test series against Bangladesh. On the other hand, Shami is recovering from ankle surgery. The two pacers would be crucial for India's chances in the upcoming Border Gavaskar Trophy on Australian soil.
On a separate note, Zaheer Khan recalled India head coach Gautam Gambhir's playing days and compared it to his coaching style.
"When you talk about Gautam Gambhir, the hunger to win is very evident and he is very passionate about cricket. These were the same qualities that made him a good cricketer and he will look at the game in the same way as a coach too. His playing style and the way he played cricket, you can also see that in his coaching. Yes, you will improve as you spend more time there, but the basic coaching style is very similar to your playing style," Zaheer remarked.
