IND v BAN 2024: India squad for Bangladesh T20Is announced; Mayank Yadav included; Varun Chakravarthy returns

The three-match T20I series begins in Gwalior on October 6.

Varun Chakravarthy, Mayank Yadav and Nitish Kumar Reddy | TwitterThe BCCI, on September 28, 2024, announced the Team India squad for the three-match T20I series against Bangladesh. The three-match T20I series will begin on October 6 in Gwalior. The second and third T20Is will be on October 9 in New Delhi and on October 12 in Hyderabad.

Suryakumar Yadav will captain the side, while notable names like Hardik Pandya, Sanju Samson, Rinku Singh, Riyan Parag, and Arshdeep Singh continue from the Sri Lanka T20Is. A big name missing from the side is that of Ruturaj Gaikwad.

Jitesh Sharma has piped Ishan Kishan as the second wicketkeeper in the Indian squad, while Shivam Dube and Washington Sundar are the all-rounders. Nitish Kumar Reddy has also received his maiden India call-up after missing the Zimbabwe and Sri Lanka series due to injury.

Sundar and Ravi Bishnoi will be aided in the spin department by Varun Chakravarthy, whose last T20I came in 2021 in the T20 World Cup.

Arshdeep Singh will shoulder the pace department with Harshit Rana and Mayank Yadav, who has also received his maiden India call-up. He had impressed one and all with his searing pace and ability to bowl at 150 plus kph consistently in IPL 2024 for Lucknow Super Giants.

“The Men's Selection Committee has picked India's 15-member squad for the upcoming IDFC FIRST Bank T20I series against Bangladesh. After the completion of the Test series, India will play three T20Is at Gwalior, New Delhi and Hyderabad,” BCCI statement read.

With the New Zealand Test series starting from October 16 onwards, the BCCI has rested the likes of Shubman Gill, Yashasvi Jaiswal, Rishabh Pant, and Jasprit Bumrah amongst others.
