India batter Rinku Singh has picked Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli as his favourite captains. While the southpaw hasn't played under Kohli, he has played three T20Is under Rohit’s leadership.

During the last T20I match under Rohit in January this year, Rinku was involved in a 190-run partnership with the Indian skipper against Afghanistan.

“Rohit bhaiya pasand hai kaptaani mei (I like Rohit Sharma’s captaincy). Aur Virat bhaiya kyuki aggression bahut jaruri hota hai kaptaani mein, team ko lekar chalna, toh unki kaptaani bhi kafi achi thi (Virat Kohli because aggression is very important in captaincy, so his leadership was also very good),” Rinku said on News 24.

The 26-year-old also named Rohit Sharma as his favourite batter along with Virat Kohli, Suresh Raina, and Suryakumar Yadav.

“Raina bhi aur sabke he favourite hai Rohit bhaiya, unke paas itna time hai khlene hai, Virat bhaiya, Surya bhai. Alag hai vo ekdum, vo aise shot maarte hai ki koi maar he nahi sakta (I like Raina, and Rohit is everyone’s favourite because he has so much time to play, Virat, and Surya. He is different, and the kind of shots he plays, no one else can).”

When enquired about his favourite bowler, Rinku took the name of India’s pace spearhead Jasprit Bumrah.

“Favourite bowler, hamare toh wahi hai Bumrah bhai. Sabke favourite, hamare bhi favourite.”

Rinku Singh became a household name after his stunning exploits in the IPL 2023 season for the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR).

The left-hander emerged as the highest run-getter for his side, amassing 474 runs from 14 innings at an average of 59.25 and a strike rate of 149.52. More than the impressive numbers, he caught everyone’s attention by finishing games for KKR from difficult situations.

In one of the games against Gujarat Titans, Rinku smashed pacer Yash Dayal for five sixes in an over to script KKR’s improbable victory.

Rinku picked that match as his favourite cricket memory and acknowledged that it changed his life drastically.

“Memory toh ek he hai 5 chakko wali. Us cheej se he meri sari life change ho gayi, toh vo best memory hai meri life ki (I only have one memory, and that is of those five sixes. That incident changed my entire life, so that is why it is my favourite memory).

Rinku Singh was one of India’s travelling reserves during the T20 World Cup 2024 in the USA and the West Indies. He featured in the T20I tours of Zimbabwe and Sri Lanka last month, but failed to leave a big mark.
