Veteran India spinner Ravichandran Ashwin has expressed his views on the incident of him getting warning from the bowler for leaving his crease early during a Tamil Nadu Premier League (TNPL) match on Sunday (July 28).

Ashwin himself has affected a few run outs at the non-striker’s end. During the IPL 2019 season, his decision to dismiss Jos Buttler for leaving the crease early has created quite a stir in the cricket fraternity.

However, Ashwin was at the receiving end of it when he was out there in middle as a batter for Dindigul Dragons against Nellai Royal Kings in the TNPL match.

In reply to a post by a user on social media platform 'X', which claimed that Ashwin would have been out if the bowler had removed the bails, the off-spinner commented: "They don't know the rule".

Ashwin's post also included an image of the incident and a screenshot of the law related to such dismissal.

Law 8.3 of the rules related to the a non-striker leaving the crease early states "at any time from the moment the ball comes into play until the instant when the bowler would normally have been expected to release the ball, the non-striker is liable to be run out if he/she is out of his/her ground."

The said incident happened in the 15th over of the Dindigul innings, when left-arm spinner Mohan Prasath was about to deliver the ball, Ashwin began to move forward, getting ready for a run. But Prasath didn’t deliver the ball and said something to the umpire about Ashwin.

However, replays showed that Ashwin’s bat never got out of the crease despite the bowler’s warning.
