Rohit Sharma names toughest bowler he's faced; also reveals his current favorite batter

Rohit Sharma's choice for the bowler who troubled him the most was a not a surprise.

Rohit Sharma named Dale Steyn as the bowler who troubled him a lot | XIndia captain Rohit Sharma has named the bowler who has given him a tough time during his 17-year-long career. Rohit made his India debut in 2007 and has gone on to become a bonafide modern-day great.

He is the only batter with three double-tons in ODIs, the highest individual score in ODIs, and has over 18,000 runs in international.

Rohit, on being asked if there's ever been a bowler that has given him nightmares, played down the terms but named South African great Dale Steyn as someone he's had trouble facing. Rohit, who faced him up front several times, had no shame in admitting it.

Steyn is considered to be an all-time great pacer. He picked 439 Test wickets, 196 ODI wickets, and 64 T20I wickets in his career from 2004-2020.

"I have gone and watched his videos like 100 times before I went in to bat. That was Dale Steyn. He is an absolute legend of the game. And what he has achieved in his career is just superb to watch. And I have faced him many times. He is quick. He used to swing the ball at that pace, which is not easy. It is quite tough. And he was a fierce competitor. He just went out there wanting to do everything, to win every game and every session, so it was nice to come up against him. Not that I had much success against him, but I enjoyed my battles," Rohit said in an interaction with Dubai Eye 103.8.

Surprisingly, Steyn only managed to dismiss Rohit Sharma once in 2013 for a duck in the Boxing Day Test.

In the same interview with Dubai Eye 103.8 show, Rohit Sharma also revealed who is his current favorite batter, and it is not Kohli, KL Rahul, Joe Root, or the number one man in T20I batting, Suryakumar Yadav.

The Indian skipper revealed that he has been particularly impressed with England's Zak Crawley. He also mentioned Steve Smith but was more rooted for Crawley's display.

"I watched Zack Crawley this season very closely & enjoyed watching him bat. I enjoyed Steve Smith's batting too, although he is different from the rest of us. I mean he's got his way of dealing with things in the middle, but he's quite successful. But Zak Crawley, I think is quite impressive," Rohit Sharma revealed during his appearance.
