T20 World Cup 2024: PCB chief Mohsin Naqvi announces reward of $100,000 to each Pakistani player on trophy win

T20 World Cup 2024 will be played in USA and West Indies from June 1-29.

Mohsin Naqvi met Pakistan team in Lahore | PCBPakistan team players could win $100,000 (INR 83 lakhs) each if they can win the upcoming T20 World Cup 2024 tournament, PCB Chief Mohsin Naqvi announced on Sunday.

Naqvi visited Lahore’s Gaddafi Stadium, where the Babar Azam-led Pakistan squad started the national camp on Saturday. Pakistan will soon depart for their tour of the UK, where they will play 3 T20Is against Ireland and 4 versus England.

According to the PCB, Naqvi said each player would receive $100,000 for winning the T20 World Cup. Naqvi also stated that the prize money was unimportant compared to raising the trophy, and expressed hope that the team would raise the Pakistan flag.

The PCB chief also encourages players to “play without any pressure” and to “compete vigorously”.

The victory will be for you and the defeat will be for me. Don’t care about anyone. Only play for Pakistan. Demonstrate teamwork on the field [and] God willing, victory will be yours. The country has a lot of expectations from you. You have to fulfill them,” PCB chief said.

During his visit, the PCB chairman also handed out special shirts to players for achieving milestones. Mohamad Rizwan was awarded a shirt for completing 3,000 T20 runs while pacer Naseem Shah was awarded a shirt for taking 100 T20 wickets.
