PM Narendra Modi, BCCI, and cricket fraternity wish Mohammad Shami a speedy recovery post surgery

Mohammad Shami underwent a heel surgery to repair his Achilles tendon.

PM Narendra Modi wished speedy recovery to Mohammad Shami | XPrime Minister Narendra Modi wished Mohammad Shami a speedy recovery after the star Indian pacer confirmed that he had undergone successful surgery on his long-standing injury.

Mohammad Shami has been out of action since the conclusion of the ICC World Cup 2023 in India. Shami had finished the tournament as the highest wicket-taker with 24 scalps to his name including the record best bowling figures of 7/57.

But since then, he missed the home T20I series against Australia, the away tour of South Africa, the home T20I series against Afghanistan, and the ongoing England Test series as well.

Shami had been consulting with the medical staff at the NCA about his ankle issue and even visited the UK to consult a specialist. He was advised to undergo the knife to sort the issue out and he had the surgery performed in London on Monday.

The operation targeted his Achilles tendon, a part that has been bothering him since the World Cup. Shami mentioned that the recovery process will take some time, expressing hope to resume his cricketing journey soon.

He will be missing the upcoming IPL 2024 in its entirety and his participation in the T20 World Cup also remains in doubt.

Meanwhile, India PM Narendra Modi said he remains confident that Shami will overcome this injury as soon as possible while wishing him a speedy recovery.

"Wishing you a speedy recovery and good health, @MdShami11! I'm confident you'll overcome this injury with the courage that is so integral to you," Prime Minister Narendra Modi wrote on X platform.

The BCCI also sent their wishes to Mohammad Shami on social media and posted on X: "Wishing you a speedy recovery @MdShami11, See you back on the field soon."

Not only PM Modi and the BCCI, but several members of cricket fraternity also wished Mohammad Shami a speedy recovery.
