Young India batter Prithvi Shaw is reportedly set to take at least one more month to return to competitive cricket if he clears the agility and acceleration drills. Notably, Shaw had suffered a ligament tear in his knee during a County stint last year.
As per BCCI sources, Shaw will be undergoing a more rigorous workload over the next three weeks to assess if his knee can endure the increased demands. Then he will be required to play a few games before he is given clearance to take part in competitive cricket.
Shaw is currently rehabbing at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) and has reportedly performed well in his batting and fielding drills. But his return depends on whether the injured knee has become robust enough to handle the higher volume of acceleration, change of directions, and agility drills.

His realistic return date could be around the IPL 2024, but the Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) will assess whether the young opener will be available for the knockouts of the Ranji Trophy. Mumbai, with two outright wins under their belt, is currently playing in Kerala.
Meanwhile, Shardul Thakur has had to miss out on the Mumbai Ranji game against Kerala, which started in Thiruvananthapuram on Friday. Thakur was initially expected to be available for this game, but it is understood that the NCA did not give clearance because of knee issues.
