Johnson upped his criticism of Warner in the run-up to the first Test against Pakistan in Perth, even questioning his worthy of a farewell match this summer at the Sydney Cricket Ground due to perceived poor performances and his role in the sandpaper affair.
David Warner, on the other hand, replied decisively by scoring a century on the opening day at Optus Stadium in Perth, putting Australia in command.
Warner scored 164 runs, and when he reached his century, celebrated emphatically with a finger on his lips gesture. This could well have sent a message to Johnson as well as other critics. He spoke with Adam Gilchrist during the tea break and said that the best possible way to respond to critics was through runs.
Taking to X, Candice took advantage of the occasion to poke fun at Johnson, posting a 'shush' emoji in response to the former fast bowler.
