Three challans issued against Rohit Sharma for reckless driving on Mumbai-Pune Expressway – Report

Rohit is leading the Indian team in the ongoing World Cup at home.

Rohit Sharma | GettyAhead of India’s World Cup 2023 clash against Bangladesh, skipper Rohit Sharma has received three traffic challans for a high-speed drive from Mumbai to Pune in his Lamborghini, Zee News reported.

The Men in Blue are due to face Bangladesh at Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium in Pune on Thursday (October 19).

After playing Pakistan in Ahmedabad on October 14, Rohit reportedly travelled to Mumbai via a Pawan Hans helicopter. He spent a couple of days with his family and chose a different mode of transport to join his teammates in Pune.

As per sources in the traffic department, Rohit Sharma drove his blue Lamborghini at staggering speeds on the Mumbai-Pune Expressway, exceeding the mark of 200 km/h and also touching 215 km/h at times. Consequently, three online traffic challans were issued to his vehicle's number plate.

“The Indian captain, right in the middle of the World Cup, driving down on a highway is not advisable at all. He should be traveling in the team bus with a police car escorting it,” Zee News quoted a source from the Traffic Department as saying.

Rohit’s reckless driving on a busy highway has raised concerns. Not long ago, India wicketkeeper-batter Rishabh Pant survived a near-fatal accident after his car crashed into the road divider and caught fire on the Delhi-Dehradun highway.

Talking about Rohit Sharma’s prowess in the ongoing World Cup, he has been in scintillating form. While the right-handed opener fell for a duck against Australia, he played brutal knocks of 131 and 86 against Afghanistan and Pakistan respectively to script India’s emphatic victories.
