October 4, 2023 marks the 26th birthday of India wicketkeeper-batter Rishabh Pant, who is currently on the road to recovery after surviving a near-fatal car accident in December last year.
Pant has been undergoing rehabilitation at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) for a while now. He has been keeping his fans updated about his recovery through social media posts.
As he turned 26, the southpaw cut his birthday cake at the NCA in the company of fellow Indian and Delhi Capitals cricketers, Akshar Patel and Prithvi Shaw, and a few NCA staff.
Just like the birthday celebrations in the Indian dressing room, Akshar and Prithvi smashed the cake all over Pant’s face.
Rishabh Pant was last seen in action during the tour of Bangladesh in December 2022. Mirpur Test against Bangladesh was his last appearance before he met with the accident.
While there is no clarity on his comeback yet, there are reports claiming that the left-hander might return to action by early next year.
Pant has played 33 Tests, 30 ODIs and 66 T20Is for India, amassing 4000+ international runs with six centuries. He was instrumental in India’s Test series win on Australian soil in 2020-21.
