Former Indian opener and cricket commentator Gautam Gambhir has yet again hit the headlines, as his latest statement would certainly make him the hot topic of discussion, particularly for Indian cricket fans.
The ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 is set to get underway on October 5, with the defending champions taking on runners-up New Zealand at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.
Well, the much-anticipated India vs. Pakistan clash on October 14 would be the mega clash of the ODI World Cup 2023, for which everybody is eagerly waiting.
Meanwhile, Gautam Gambhir seems to be most eager to watch Pakistan captain Babar Azam bat in the upcoming World Cup in India.
Showering rich praise on Babar, Gambhir said that he is really looking forward to watching the Pakistan captain play in the World Cup, and also predicted that the star batter has every quality to set the upcoming mega event on fire.
“Babar Azam”, said Gambhir on Star Sports, when he was asked to name the player he is most looking forward to seeing at the upcoming World Cup 2023.
He added, “Babar Azam has every quality to set this World Cup on fire. I have seen very few players who have so much time. Yes, there are Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, David Warner, Kane Williamson and Joe Root but Babar Azam has a quality of a different level.”
Notably, Babar is currently the number one ranked batter in ODI cricket and he is ranked third and fourth in T20I and Test rankings respectively.
