Jasprit Bumrah, who has been out of action since September 2022 is very near to making his comeback for the Indian team, after attaining full fitness as it was confirmed by BCCI secretary Jay Shah on July 27, 2023.
Bumrah suffered from a stress fracture to his back on the tour of England in July last year and was rushed back against Australia to play 2 T20Is. But he complained of stiffness in the back and it was revealed that he had a stress reaction to his back.
The pacer missed out on Asia Cup 2022, and the T20 World Cup 2023 and then underwent surgery early this year. He was supposed to make his comeback in the Indian team for the white-ball series at home against Sri Lanka. But his return was delayed and he missed a few more matches including the IPL 2023.
But recently, videos surfaced of him bowling full tilt in the NCA where he is doing extensive rehabilitation and is expected to play a couple of warm-up games before a final call is taken.
Jay Shah has reportedly confirmed that the Gujarat pacer is fully fit and might be included in the Indian squad for the T20I tour or Ireland in August.
"Bumrah is totally fit and he may go to Ireland. There will be consistency in selections apart from Ireland tour," Shah told reporters here during a media conference.
His return to full fitness will be eagerly anticipated by cricket fans as he is a key player for the Indian cricket team. The three T20Is in Ireland will be played in Dublin on August 18, 20, and 23.
