Harbhajan Singh said that he doesn’t have a reason why the players who were part of the Indian team that won the 2011 World Cup final against Sri Lanka didn’t come together for the Men in Blue again after that.

In addition to Harbhajan, that ODI WC winning squad comprised some of the legendary players to have played for India including Sachin Tendulkar, Virender Sehwag, MS Dhoni, Yuvraj Singh, Gautam Gambhir, Zaheer Khan among others.

However, after winning the grand final of the 2011 World Cup in Mumbai, the same set of players never played together for India again and even Harbhajan Singh doesn’t know the answer.

This I don’t know that. They were probably used till the World Cup only and it’s a mystery for me too why that team never played again even for a match, very surprising. I hope, I wish things could be rectified.

It will be nice if we come together and play. It will be great fun but very unfortunate that the team didn’t assemble again and didn’t play another tournament or even a match," Harbhajan told News24.

Harbhajan Singh who played for India from 1998-2016, admitted that for a few players, it was probably their final World Cup but others could have played for a longer time.

It is beyond my understanding that the team was considered good till winning the 2011 World Cup but suddenly so many changes in that team after that. People who were winning games, were no more good.

There were some players in that team for whom it seemed like it was their last World Cup but there were few players who could have played. We could have played more - me, Yuvi, Gautam, several players could have played more. But let’s not talk about it, it’s all gone,” he said.

Harbhajan Singh took 269 wickets in 236 ODIs for India and was part of both the 2007 T20 World Cup-winning and 2011 World Cup-winning Indian teams.
