Prithvi Shaw likely to turn up for English county side Northamptonshire after Duleep Trophy: Report

Shaw endured a dismal IPL 2023 campaign while playing for Delhi Capitals.

Prithvi Shaw | GettyMumbai opener Prithvi Shaw will turn up for English county side Northamptonshire after finishing his Duleep Trophy assignment later this month, PTI reported on Saturday (July 1).

Shaw, 23, is currently out of the national selection reckoning and people close to him have reportedly advised him to have a stint in UK in order to tighten up his technique.

"Yes, Prithvi will be leaving once he finishes his Duleep Trophy assignment for West Zone. He is likely to play the July 19-22 game against Somerset if all goes well," a source close to the cricketer told PTI on conditions of anonymity.

It is expected that Prithvi Shaw will play the entire Royal London One-Day Cup for Northamptonshire.

Shaw endured a dismal IPL 2023 campaign. Playing for Delhi Capitals, the right-hander scored 106 runs from 8 innings at an average of 13.25 with only one half-century.

Considering his rich talent, one expects that the county stint will help Prithvi regain his mojo back and be in national contention following the ODI World Cup later this year.

If Prithvi Shaw departs for England after the Duleep Trophy final (July 12-16), he might miss the Deodhar Trophy starting July 24. However, report suggests that the BCCI officials will allow him to play in the UK where he is likely to face better bowling attacks in Division 1 compared to what he would get in India.
