Chennai Super Kings (CSK) IPL 2023 winning captain MS Dhoni is reportedly going to visit the Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital in Mumbai to undergo tests for his knee injury which hampered his game throughout the recently concluded tournament.
On a chaotic rain-interrupted Monday night, MS Dhoni lifted his 5th IPL title after Chennai Super Kings edged past Gujarat Titans by 5 wickets via the DLS method.
Dhoni entered IPL 2023 with an ailing knee. He had to wear a kneecap during the entire tournament. He was seen with heavy strappings on the left knee as well when he said thank you to the crowd in Chennai after CSK’s final league game at Chepauk.
However, despite managing the injury, Dhoni played all 16 games in IPL 2023. With his recent injury struggles and a 5th IPL title, many expected that Dhoni would call it a time on his illustrious playing career.
But, at the post-match presentation of the IPL 2023 Final, Dhoni said he would like to come back for another year.
“If you see circumstantially this is the best time for me to announce retirement. But with the amount of love and affection I’ve been shown wherever I’ve been this year, the easy thing for me would be to say, ‘Thank you very much’. But the tough thing for me is to work hard for another nine months and come back and play at least one more season of IPL. But a lot depends on the body, I have six-seven months to decide and it will be more like a gift from my side,” Dhoni said after the final.
As per the Revsportz report, MS Dhoni might be admitted to the Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital and Medical Research Institute in Mumbai for a series of tests later this week.
CSK’s five-time IPL-winning skipper, who will turn 42 in July, has been hampered by aches and pains for some time. It would indicate that the situation is serious if you were admitted for testing in a super-specialty hospital.
Millions of fans will be hoping that Dhoni comes out of this incident in good physical and mental condition, ready to play another season.
