Jofra Archer famously hit Steve Smith on the head with a bouncer during 2019 Ashes.

Steve Smith and Jofra Archer | GettyAustralia’s star batter Steve Smith has reacted strongly to a tweet claiming that he was ‘terrorised’ by England pacer Jofra Archer during the 2019 edition of Ashes.

Archer impressed one and all with his exploits in that Ashes, picking up 22 Australian wickets at an average of 20.27.

While Jofra didn’t dismiss Smith in that series, he hit him on the head with a ferocious bouncer at Lord’s. As a result, the Australian was forced to sit out in the next Test at Headingley due to concussion.

On the other hand, Smith finished the series with 774 runs at an astonishing average of 110.57, including three hundreds and as many fifties.

When a tweet suggested that Smith had been “terrorised” by Archer, the 33-year-old replied: “remind me when I was dismissed by him.”

It is pertinent to mention here that Steve Smith is currently preparing for the upcoming Ashes series with a stint for Sussex in the County Championship. He has registered scores of 30 and 3 in the two innings so far.

The 2023 edition of Ashes is due to get underway on June 16 at Edgbaston.
