Shubman Gill is currently enjoying his time with the bat on the field, and whether it's Sri Lanka or New Zealand, the young opener didn’t let any bowler dominate him.
His fearless and smooth batting has enchanted everyone, and the latest is former India captain Mohammad Azharuddin. Azharuddin was extremely impressed with the bat with which Gill has been batting for Team India lately, as he called himself a fan of the right-hander’s batting.
The former Indian skipper also hailed Gill as a complete entertainer while calling him a hugely talented cricketer. His last ODI scores are 70, 21, 116, 208, and 40*.
Speaking on Basit Ali’s YouTube channel, Mohammad Azharuddin said: “Mai unki batting ka Mureed hun (I am a fan of Shubman Gill’s batting). Honhaar cricketer hai, kaafi acha lagta hai usey khelta dekh kar. (He is a talented cricketer and I enjoy watching him play). He is a free-flowing batsman, looks elegant, and is a complete entertainer.)”
Azharuddin also lauded Ishan Kishan, who had scored a double hundred in an ODI on the Bangladesh tour in December 2022.
He also claimed that Ishan and Gill will be the pillars of Indian batting in the future.
He signed off by saying, “Ishan Kishan is a lefty, a good striker of the ball, and looks stylish whenever he plays the shots. Shubman and Ishan are going to be the pillars of Indian batting in the future. They are huge talents.”
Notably, Ishan and Gill both are currently playing in the ODI series against New Zealand at home.
