Former Pakistan captain and ex-head coach Misbah-ul-Haq said that it seems that there is an attempt being made to weaken Babar Azam's position as captain of the Pakistan team, and he fears the whole drama will have an adverse effect on the team.

The legendary batter said that if the PCB and authorities want to make changes in the leadership, then they should meet and decide instead of putting pressure on Babar like this, as he feels some people on the board are trying to weaken the position of the current skipper.

Misbah further said that if people are trying to bring down captain Babar, then it is not good for Pakistan cricket. Notably, Babar has been heavily criticized by the critics and media for a long time due to Pakistan's dismal performance in Test cricket.

Misbah-ul-Haq told reporters in Lahore: “Cricket is my blood and I watch cricket matches and read about cricket all the time. And from what I see Babar Azam's position in the team is being weakened. It is visible, Babar is being forced to become weak, which is not good.”

He continued, “The kind of press conferences and questions being asked from Babar, everyone is watching. Look at some of the questions being asked to him what do they indicate he is being weakened as a captain and I am afraid that will have adverse effects on the team's dressing room.”

The former head coach said that if the PCB and the selectors have an issue with Babar’s captaincy, then they must discuss it with them, but such things that are going on aren’t good for Pakistan cricket.

He stated: “If there is a decision to be made, everyone should sit together and make a decision. The players, the selection committee, and the board should sit down and make a decision comfortably. They should review the situation and if they think changes should be made, then they should do it.”

Misbah signed off by saying, “If you put pressure on someone like this it eventually will disturb the whole team and that is not good for Pakistan cricket. Test teams are built after a lot of hard work and time and frequent changes don't help. We had a good test side but the changes disturbed everything. It should not happen.”
