Danish Kaneria takes brutal 'ball tampering' dig after Shahid Afridi is named PCB's interim chief selector

Afridi, along with Abdul Razzaq and Rao Iftikhar Anjum were named in interim selection committee.

Shahid Afridi | GettyFormer Pakistan captain Shahid Afridi was recently appointed the chief selector of the interim selection committee by new PCB chief Najam Sethi. This was a result of a major upheaval in Pakistan cricket as Ramiz Raja was ousted from his post along with previous selector Mohammad Wasim.

Afridi was joined by Abdul Razzaq and Rao Iftikhar Anjum in the ad-hoc selection committee which added three more players to the Pakistani Test squad for the New Zealand Tests Afridi also revealed that the committee will also help captain Babar Azam in picking the XI for the first Test against Tim Southee and his men.

This resulted in Mohammad Rizwan being dropped from the XI for the first Test and saw the return of Sarfaraz Ahmed to the side. Also, Mir Hamza made his Test debut for Pakistan in Karachi.

However, while Shahid Afridi claimed that the selection committee was there to strengthen Babar Azam’s captaincy, Afridi’s former Pakistani teammate, Danish Kaneria took a brutal dig at the cricketer.

Moments after the big news, Danish Kaneria, took to Twitter to share a picture of Afridi's ball-tampering incident from a T20I match in 2010. Kaneria captioned it, “Chief Selector” with a couple of laughing emoticons.

The incident happened in a 2010 T20I match against Australia when Afridi was caught on camera biting on the ball and as a result, was banned for two T20Is.
