BCCI Apex Council Meeting on December 21; new selection committee, separate T20I captain and coach on agenda

New BCCI central contracts are also likely to be a part of discussion during the meeting.

Board of Control for Cricket in India | GettyThe Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is all set to hold its Apex Council meeting on Wednesday (December 21), ANI reported.

As per sources in the board, the central contracts and appointment of the new selection committee are some of the things on the agenda. Moreover, different coaches and captains for different formats of the game are expected to be discussed in the meeting which will take place virtually.

According to the report, the Indian team might get a new coach in the T20I format after a semi-final exit from the T20 World Cup 2022.

While skipper Rohit Sharma is on the wrong side of his 30s and does not have many years left, Hardik Pandya is seen as a potential T20 captain by the board.

The report also claims that the decision on split coaching is likely to be made as well. Rahul Dravid may retain the position of head coach in Tests and ODIs but someone else could assume the role of T20I coach.

The BCCI is reportedly not pleased with the performance of the team's support staff, especially T Dilip, the fielding coach and physio team. Hence, some changes are due in the support team as well.

New BCCI central contracts are likely to be a part of the discussion during the meeting and star T20I batter Suryakumar Yadav could get the promotion.

The board recently sacked the Chetan Sharma-led selection panel and the appointment of the new selection committee is likely to be approved as a part of the meeting.

BCCI could also discuss the status of two of the team's primary jersey sponsors, BYJUs and MPL.

Injury management is also likely to be an important topic in the meeting, with players like Deepak Chahar, Jasprit Bumrah, and Ravindra Jadeja facing injuries recently.

BCCI is also likely to take a call on India versus Australia pink-ball Test in Ahmedabad during the Border-Gavaskar Trophy.
