‘Cricket should be separate from politics’- Mohammad Irfan wants India and Pakistan to visit each other

PCB has threatened to boycott Asia Cup 2023 if it is moved out of Pakistan.

Ramiz Raja and Jay Shah have been at odds wrt Asia Cup 2023 | TwitterAmidst the tense drama surrounding the Asia Cup 2023 tournament, Pakistani pacer Mohammad Irfan has shared his opinion on whether India should travel to Pakistan and vice-versa.

The entire issue started when Jay Shah, BCCI secretary, and ACC chief announced that India will not travel to Pakistan, who are the hosts of Asia Cup 2023 and the tournament will be shifted to another venue.

This led to Ramiz Raja, the PCB chief retaliating by saying that if India doesn’t come to Pakistan for the Asia Cup, then Pakistan might pull out of the ODI World Cup which is to be played in India in October-November 2023.

And most recently, Ramiz said that Pakistan will boycott the Asia Cup event if the tournament is moved from Pakistan and shifted to a neutral location. The stalemate continues with PCB getting aggressive in their statements and BCCI currently mum on the situation.

“No reason why India couldn't come to Pakistan and Pakistan go to India”: Ramiz Raja

Mohammad Irfan, who recently appeared in Abu Dhabi T10 league, stated that players should be kept away from politics, and rumors surrounding the controversy should not be entertained.

"I have said it before too. Players should be kept away from politics. Pakistan should go to India and India should come to Pakistan to play. It increases love between people from both countries. Cricket should be separate from politics. Don't go with statements that Pakistan won't come to India, let the Board decide it," said the pacer.

He also shared his thoughts on the recently concluded T20 World Cup in Australia and talked about its highlights.

"The World Cup saw Virat come in the form. The hype was there about an India-Pakistan final but Pakistan lost against India. They played very well and made a comeback to reach the final," remarked Irfan.
