Former Australia all-rounder Simon O’Donnell has made a stunning revelation that talks are on for an India vs Pakistan Test match or a tri-series to be played in Australia. He also spoke about the recent encounter between the two sides in the ongoing T20 World Cup 2022.

O’Donnell, who once held the record for the fastest ODI fifty before Sanath Jayasuriya and then AB de Villiers broke it, said that he had enjoyed watching India play Pakistan in Melbourne in the T20 World Cup 2022.

It was magnificent sort of stuff, to the level that I can say there will be discussions being had, or there are discussions being had to play a Test match here. My word there are (conversations happening), in the wake of this (T20 World Cup clash). There are already discussions taking place,” O’Donnell said on SEN Radio.

He also added that there was also a possibility of a triangular ODI series between India, Pakistan, and Australia.

There’s also the possibility of a triangular One-Day series between India, Pakistan, and Australia or a Test match between India and Pakistan,” he added.

India and Pakistan have not played a bilateral series since 2012-13 and a Test series since 2007. Political tension between the two countries has meant that India and Pakistan only play in ICC and Asia Cup events.

Recently, BCCI secretary Jay Shah made it clear that the Indian team won’t go to Pakistan for the 2023 Asia Cup and that the tournament is now likely to be held at a neutral venue.

This evokes angry reactions from the Pakistan Cricket Board, who wrote to ACC, saying that India not touring Pakistan might mean the Men in Green also not coming to India for the 2023 ODI World Cup.
