Newly elected Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) president Roger Binny revealed the two things he will primarily focus on after being elected as the new chief unopposed and replacing Sourav Ganguly.

Binny, a former Indian pacer and 1983 World Cup winner, was elected as the BCCI president at the 91st Annual General Meeting (AGM) of the board on Tuesday (October 18). Binny was the only candidate to have filed a nomination for the post of BCCI president.

Following his appointment on Tuesday, the new boss of the Indian cricket board revealed that he wants to primarily focus on the prevention of injuries to the players and pitches in the country. Binny further highlighted how Jasprit Bumrah’s untimely injury affected India’s plans for the T20 World Cup 2022.

The new BCCI president Roger Binny told ANI: “As the BCCI president, I want to primarily focus on two things. First is the prevention of injuries to the players. Jasprit Bumrah got injured just before the World Cup, which affected the whole plan. Second, I want to focus on the pitches in the country.”

Notably, Jay Shah will continue to serve as the BCCI Secretary, while Rajeev Shukla and Devajit Saikia will be the vice president and joint secretary of the board, respectively. On the other hand, Ashish Shelar has been appointed as the new BCCI Treasurer.

Binny represented India in 27 Tests and 72 ODIs and bagged 47 and 77 wickets, respectively. He was one of the architects of India's first-ever World Cup victory in the 1983 World Cup, where he was the highest wicket-taker for India with 18 wickets.
