Indian opener and currently the stand-in captain in the ongoing South Africa ODI series, Shikhar Dhawan is all set for a new innings off the cricket field, as he will be making his Bollywood movie debut in the upcoming film Double XL.
The film stars Sonakshi Sinha and Huma Qureshi and is a story of two plus-sized women seeking their dreams. Directed by Satramm Ramani, the slice-of-life comedy-drama challenges body weight stereotypes and sends out the strong message that if you can dream it, you can achieve it.
Making a special appearance in the movie will be Shikhar Dhawan, who will be seen on the silver screen for the first time.
Talking about his Bollywood debut, Dhawan was quoted as saying by Zee News: “As an athlete playing for the nation, life is always very hectic. One of my favorite pastimes is to watch good entertaining films. When this opportunity came to me and I heard the story, it made a deep impact on me. This is a lovely message for the whole society and I hope a lot of young girls and boys will keep pursuing their dreams no matter what.”
Lead actress Huma Qureshi also shared the first look of Shikhar Dhawan in the movie on her Instagram account with the caption reading: “Cat is out of the bag …. Finally @shikhardofficial #DoubleXL.”
