“I admire them like Sunil Gavaskar,” Sir Viv Richards heaps praise on Sachin Tendulkar and Virat Kohli

Richards also complimented India's current skipper Rohit Sharma.

Sachin Tendulkar and Virat Kohli | GettyWidely regarded as one of the greatest batters of all time, West Indies’ Sir Viv Richards recently heaped praise on Indian batting legends Sachin Tendulkar and Virat Kohli.

Richards compared the duo to Sunil Gavaskar, who he played against for a lot of years. He also expressed his amazement at India’s rich batting talent and quipped that they should send some players to the Caribbean.

"To be fair, I know these are two individuals who have served the cricketing world well — they are magnificent players. I do not want to get into how they are playing. I admire them like I admire Sunil Gavaskar, whom I have played against. I am a fan of great batsmanship, and India has produced some great batsmen over the years," said Richards in an interaction on MoneyControl.com.

"I myself have lots of respect for them, for what they have achieved. I admire them and all those who have built Indian cricket. As I told you, I am a fan of good batsmanship, and you guys always produce some great talent. Why don’t you send some of the guys here to the Caribbean (laughs)!

"We were highly successful against India in the past, but now see that India has made great progress. They have some good fast bowlers, some good spinners, and good batsmen, and that’s what it takes to assemble a good team," he added.

In a career spanning 24 years, Sachin Tendulkar played 200 Tests and 463 ODIs for India, scoring the world record number of runs (15921 in Tests and 18426 in ODIs) and centuries (51 in Tests and 49 in ODIs).

Virat Kohli, on the other hand, has already slammed 71 international hundreds. The former India skipper has 8074 Test runs and 12344 ODI runs to his name besides amassing 3712 runs in T20Is.

Richards also complimented Rohit Sharma, saying that he has always been a big fan of the current Indian captain.

"I have always liked Rohit, especially when Virat was the captain — before he turned over the captaincy to Rohit," he concluded.
