BCCI President Sourav Ganguly has reportedly sent an email to all the state association units that the Women’s IPL is expected to begin early next year. This good news comes on the back of the Indian women’s team's first ODI series win in England since 1999, as they won the 2nd ODI by 88 runs.
Harmanpreet Kaur led from the front with a brutal 143* and Harleen Deol made a fifty as India posted 333/5 in 50 overs. In reply, Renuka Singh’s 4/57 folded England for 245 runs despite 65 from Danni Wyatt and contributions from Alice Capsey and Amy Jones.
Now Times of India has reported that BCCI president Sourav Ganguly has informed all state association units via email that the board is "is expecting" to launch the "much-awaited Women's IPL early next year,”
"The BCCI is currently working on the much-awaited women's IPL. We are expecting to start the first season early next year. More details will follow in the due course," Ganguly wrote in his email.

Besides launching the inaugural women's IPL, the BCCI will also start an Under-15 tournament for the girls.
"We are glad to introduce a girl's u-15 tournament from this season. Women's cricket has seen phenomenal growth across the world and our national team has been performing well. This new tournament will create a pathway for our girls to play at the international level," Ganguly wrote.
Also, Ganguly confirmed in the email that with the effects of COVID-19 subsiding the IPL 2023 will be held in the home and away format.
"The next season of men's IPL will also go back to the home and away format with all the 10 teams playing their home matches at their designated venues," Ganguly mentioned.
After the T20 World Cup 2022, India will play hosts to Sri Lanka and New Zealand in a busy home season as Ganguly said: "The BCCI's home international season starts from today and we have exciting cricketing action coming our way. The Indian men's senior team will be playing against Australia, South Africa, Sri Lanka, and New Zealand in the home international series. The Indian women's senior team will be playing against Australia.”
The upcoming domestic season will feature two editions of the Irani Cup-Saurashtra, who were the Ranji Trophy champions for the 2019-20 season will take on the Rest of India team at Rajkot from 1-5 October 2022.
Madhya Pradesh, who won their maiden Ranji Trophy championship in the 2021-22 season, beating Mumbai at Bengaluru, will participate in their first-ever Irani Cup, to be played from 1-5 March 2023 at Indore.
"The Indian cricketing season 2022-23 has started, and I'm happy to share with you that we're going back to normalcy. You must be aware that this year, we'll be having the usual full-fledged domestic season for all age groups and the games will be hosted all over the country,” Ganguly wrote in its email.
