Ravi Bishnoi will travel with Indian team to Australia for T20 WC 2022 as a reserve player | GettyYoung Indian leg-spinner Ravi Bishnoi has impressed one and all since his amazing outing for India U19 in the 2018 youth World Cup. He graduated to impress in the Indian Premier League and has made quite an impression for India as well in international cricket.

He has been named in the Indian team’s reserve players' list for the ICC T20 World Cup 2022 after his impressive outing against Pakistan in the Asia Cup 2022.

Talking about his formative years in cricket on Sports18, Ravi Bishnoi said that originally, he was a medium pacer who turned into a spinner.

I started as a medium pacer but switched to leg spin and developed an interest and enjoyed the art of leg spin. That is when I started taking cricket seriously when I was around 11-12 years old. My two coaches have supported me throughout the journey, and they have been my backbone. During the starting days, my parents were very supportive, but in Indian culture, there is a belief that there is no scope in sports. After a few years when my coaches explained my potential to them, they started supporting me,” Bishnoi said.

IND v AUS 2022: 'Some Indian players are overweight'- Salman Butt questions Indian players' fitness standard

The IPL has supported me a lot because in age group cricket everyone is of the same age or maybe younger but in IPL there is no age limit, senior players, international players so you get to learn a lot when you share the dressing room with these players and you get to bowl to so many legends,” Bishnoi talked about the Indian Premier League.

Bishnoi also revealed that his dream is to bowl with Afghanistani star Rashid Khan and learn from him as well, given that they both have similar styles.

It was fun bowling with Yuzvendra Chahal as you know he is one of the top 5 spinners right now. If I am fortunate enough, I would love to bowl with Rashid Khan because I will get to learn how to bowl in a partnership,” said Bishnoi.
