Everyone was confident that young leg-spinner Ravi Bishnoi would be picked in India's main squad for the upcoming ICC T20 World Cup 2022 in Australia, but much to everyone's surprise, he missed out but was named as a standby player.
Notably, the young spinner made his debut for India earlier this year and has so far played 10 T20Is, picking 16 wickets at an economy rate of 7.08 and a strike rate of 14.5.
Bishnoi was very much in contention to be picked in India’s T20 World Cup 2022 squad, and even he was given a couple of opportunities in the recent Asia Cup 2022 where he impressed with his guile.
However, the BCCI and the national selectors went ahead with experienced Yuzvendra Chahal, R Ashwin, and Akshar Patel as the three spinners, while Bishnoi was named in the standby players who will travel to Australia.
Well, after over a week of the squad announcement, Bishnoi took to social media to express his disappointment at being ignored for the upcoming T20 World Cup 2022 as well as the upcoming limited-overs series against Australia and South Africa at home.
The 22-year-old spinner took to Instagram to share a cryptic story to express his disappointment after being demoted to the standby list for the T20 World Cup 2022 in Australia.
His Instagram story read: “The sun will rise, and we will try again.”
