Suryakumar Yadav pips Babar Azam to reach no.3 spot in latest ICC T20I batting rankings

Mohammad Rizwan continues to reign as the no.1 ranked T20I batter.

Mohammad Rizwan | GettyIndian batting star Suryakumar Yadav’s impressive push towards the top of the ICC T20I batting rankings continued as in the latest update on September 21, 2022, he made further inroads in the rankings.

Yadav impressed with a classy 46 for India during their narrow loss to Australia in Mohali in the opening T20I of their three-game series on Tuesday and with that, he jumped in front of Pakistan captain Babar Azam and into third place on the latest list of T20I rankings for batters.

He is just behind Aiden Markram who is second in the rankings.

Mohammad Rizwan continues to reign at the top with 825 points. He hit a half-century in Pakistan's loss to England in Karachi on Tuesday and maintains a narrow advantage at the top of the rankings.

Babar drops to fourth on the latest rankings following his below-par Asia Cup and a return of 31 against England in the series opener of their series. On the other hand, England's Dawid Malan (725) and Australia skipper Aaron Finch (715) round out the top six.

Fast Bowler Haris Rauf (up four places to 31st), spinners Mohammad Nawaz (up three places to 31st), and Usman Qadir (up 16 places to 102nd) are the other Pakistan players to move up the list.

For England, left-arm seam bowler Sam Curran has advanced 19 places to 52nd position while batters. Alex Hales (126th) and Harry Brook (147th) have also gained after contributing to their win.
