Indian spinner R Ashwin talked about one potential big buy at the next Indian Premier League (IPL) auction while highlighting the achievements and performances of a particular Australian player.
That player is all-rounder Cameron Green who has made quite an impact for the Kangaroos since his debut in 2020. He has played 14 Tests, 12 ODIs, and 1 T20I for Australia making 723, 270, and 2 runs respectively. He has also taken 29 wickets as well.
He was in very good form in the recently concluded Chappell-Hadlee Trophy between Australia and New Zealand, which the Aaron Finch-led side won 3-0. The 23-year-old emerged as the third-highest run scorer in the series (114 runs) and took two crucial wickets in as many games.
Weighing on Green's chances in the next IPL season, India off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin has said that teams might shell out big money to buy the power-hitter.
"Just when everyone thought how he would do in the one-day format, he is showing his big-hitting prowess. He is striking them big. He has his sweep shot against the spinners. He has the long hits as well. He is a tall fast bowler too.
Some teams (in IPL) might think of using him in the powerplay and might go after him in this year's auctions unless and until he pulls out. I am sure some team will break the bank for him in this year's auctions," explained Ashwin on his YouTube channel.
The IPL 2023 will be played on a much broader scale and with many spots yet to be filled by the franchises for players who have retired or who might be released in coming time.
