Fans in Thiruvananthapuram plan to protest against BCCI over Sanju Samson’s snub from T20 World Cup 2022 squad

Sanju Samson failed to make the cut despite his brilliance in T20Is this year.

Sanju Samson | GettyBCCI on Monday (September 12) announced Team India’s squad for the upcoming ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2022 in Australia.

Although the 15-member squad was on the expected lines, there was one notable omission in the last. Swashbuckling batter Sanju Samson failed to make the cut despite impressing one and all with his T20I performances this year.

Samson has played six T20Is for India in 2022, scoring 179 runs at an impressive average of 44.75 and an exceptional strike rate of 158.40 with one half-century. Moreover, he led Rajasthan Royals to the IPL final this season.

Sanju Samson’s snub has left a lot of Indian cricket fans furious and the BCCI is likely to face a backlash over the same in the near future.

According to a report published in IANS, fans in Thiruvananthapuram are planning to protest against the cricket board during the India-South Africa T20I match, to be held at the Greenfield Stadium on September 28.

The report further claims that locals may come wearing T-Shirts with Samson’s picture on it and protest against the BCCI during the India vs South Africa match.

Notably, India will host Australia and South Africa in six T20Is before heading for the T20 World Cup down under, slated to be played from October 16 to November 13.

India will begin their T20 World Cup 2022 campaign against arch-rivals Pakistan at Melbourne Cricket Ground on October 23.
