Shikhar Dhawan and Rohit Sharma are currently rated as one of the best opening pairs in the ODIs. They are the second most successful opening pair for India, having scored over 5000 runs in the 50-over format.
Not only on the field, but the pair shares a great camaraderie off the field as well. They have often been seen sharing light moments and also rate each other very highly.
Recently, rumours regarding the rift between the duo made the headlines. India has recently adopted the fearless approach which was quite evident in the white-ball series against England. While everyone played fearlessly, Dhawan took a conservative approach and his strike rate was comparatively less than others.

Dhawan's poor strike rate was highlighted by many as a problem and rumours of a conflict between him and Rohit also emerged related to the same.
A member of the selection committee said that although they both have different ideas and talks related to the strike rate of the southpaw have been there, there’s no rift between Dhawan and Rohit.
He added that selectors will interact with Dhawan after the Zimbabwe tour regarding his future. Adding that, if he needs to change his batting approach, coach Rahul Dravid and Vikram Rathore will be there for him.
“There is no problem between Shikhar and Rohit. It’s just that both have different ideas. It is not a bad thing. But yes, we will have a sit down with Shikhar probably after Zimbabwe tour on understanding his future plans. If he needs to change his batting approach, Vikram and Rahul are there to talk to him. We won’t interfere,” said a member of the selection committee, as quoted by InsideSport.
Notably, Dhawan is no longer considered for selection in T20Is due to his low strike rate but he’s an integral part of the Indian team in ODIs. After having poor series in England, he made a staggering comeback in West Indies as he scored two half-centuries in the three-match series.
