Ahead of the T20 World Cup in Australia later this year, the New Zealand team will travel to the West Indies for a white-ball series in August. Three T20Is and as many ODIs will be played during the tour, however, just one combined team was picked by the selectors for the entire tour.

Tim Southee, Devon Conway, and Kane Williamson are all included in the Black Caps' 15-member team for the tour. Williamson reclaims the position of team captain.

New Zealand will be visiting the Caribbean for the first time since 2014.

Given that the Kiwis have played some form of cricket every month this year, the team's head coach Gary Stead has emphasized that workload management of both players and staff is 'hugely important'.

"It's always exciting to be heading somewhere you've not been in a while and I know this group can't wait for the challenge of taking on the West Indies in the Caribbean,” Stead stated.

“Managing workloads is hugely important this year with the team playing some form of cricket every month in 2022 - and this applies to both players and staff.

"For Kane, Trent, Tim, and Devon, this will be the first time they have played white ball cricket for New Zealand since last year's T20 WC and tour to India - so this trip will be important for them.

"We also have players such as Michael and Finn who are relatively new to the international stage but have really put their hands up for selection when given opportunities.

"As a selector, it's been great to see these guys push their cases."

Two groups of New Zealand will depart for Jamaica, one from home and the other with some players coming directly from the Netherlands.

Dean Brownlie will serve as the team's batting coach, and Graeme Aldridge will serve as the bowling coach.

Combined squad: Kane Williamson (C), Finn Allen, Trent Boult, Michael Bracewell, Devon Conway, Lockie Ferguson, Martin Guptill, Matt Henry, Tom Latham, Daryl Mitchell, Jimmy Neesham, Glenn Phillips, Mitchell Santner, Ish Sodhi, Tim Southee
