Virat Kohli, Anushka Sharma react to Kevin Pietersen's heartfelt post for veteran India batter

Virat Kohli is struggling for runs in the ongoing England tour.

Kevin Pietersen and Virat Kohli | GettyVeteran India batter Virat Kohli has become the talk of the town for his poor run of form in the ongoing England tour.

Kohli could manage only 11 and 20 in rescheduled fifth Test at Edgbaston and aggregated only 12 runs in his two innings in T20Is. While the right-hander didn’t feature in the first ODI due to a groin injury, he made only 16 runs on his comeback in the second ODI at Lord’s.

Kohli’s recent failures saw him drawing flak from the fans and former cricketers. In fact, Indian cricket legends Kapil Dev and Virender Sehwag have raised questions over his place in the national side.

Amid the run drought, Virat Kohli has also received plenty of support from the cricket fraternity, with the likes of Babar Azam and Shoaib Akhtar backing him to come good.

On Saturday (July 16), former England skipper Kevin Pietersen extended his support to Kohli, telling him to be proud of his illustrious career.

“Buddy, your career has had some of the best that have played the game only wish they could have done what you have(so far). Be proud, walk tall & enjoy life. There’s way more than just the bubble of cricket out there. You’ll be back, @virat.kohli,” Pietersen wrote in a heartfelt post on Instagram.

Both Kohli and his wife Anushka promptly reacted to Pietersen's post, with red heart emojis, acknowledging his support amid the tough times.

Virat Kohli has been struggling to score big runs for the past three seasons, having last scored an international ton in November 2019. He will be next seen in action during the third ODI against England at Old Trafford on July 17.
