Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli are two of the modern era batting legends and have been pillars of Indian cricket for the past decade or so. Kohli and Rohit have played a key role in India’s success over the years.
However, at the moment, Kohli is struggling for runs while Rohit is India's captain across all formats. Amidst the debate over Kohli’s place in the Indian team, Pakistan’s opening batter Imam-ul-Haq said that God has given Rohit more talent than Kohli and he wants to play like the Indian skipper.
Being an opener, Imam admires Rohit more and he wants to become Pakistan’s Rohit Sharma, having been impressed with the Indian opener’s influential performances in the international arena.
Imam-ul-Haq said on SAMAA News: “I feel that the amount of talent Allah has given to Rohit Sharma, he has not given it to Virat Kohli perhaps. I have seen both of them bat, it seems like Rohit is batting in a replay. He has a lot of time.”
The young opener continued, “The first time I realized the true meaning of timing because I mostly field at point and I get to know. Virat Kohli has batted in front of me, so has Rohit Sharma but Rohit has been gifted a lot of time by Allah.”
Imam signed off by saying, “He is one player who can change the game in two seconds. When he is set, he can hit at will. My wish is to give as influential performances like Rohit. If I play that style of cricket for Pakistan, I would be very happy.”
