Indian all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja gave an epic response to Ravi Shastri after he asked the former how he kept Rishabh Pant calm during their partnership against England at Edgbaston.
The duo of Pant and Jadeja have made the headlines since the Day 1 of the ongoing fifth Test. They both once again came to India’s rescue after the visitors lost early wickets.
Pant and Jadeja put on a partnership of 222 runs for the sixth wicket, the joint highest by India against England in Tests, to help India post a mammoth first innings total of 416 runs.
The all-rounder took a conservative approach and smashed 104 runs, while Pant committed the carnage on England bowlers and brought up his century in just 89 balls and walked back to the dressing room with the score of 146.
Ravi Shastri, who is doing commentary duties for the one-off Test asked Jadeja on how he kept Pant composed during their stay on the crease.
“The whole world wants to know, what's this special language you were speaking to Rishabh Pant? Because to keep Rishabh 'thanda', or organised, you have to speak some special language,” Ravi Shastri asked on Sky Sports
Replying to this, Jadeja said that he told the wicketkeeper-batter to avoid playing rash shots and make sure of the correct shot selection.
“We all know how attacking he is. We know he loves to take on the bowlers. I just told him to make sure the shot selection is right. Try and play sensible at times, because sometimes, you keep playing shots that can get you out. I was just trying to calm him down,” he said.
