Before the T20 World Cup 2022 begins, the Pakistani men's cricket squad will play in a tri-nation series in New Zealand, Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman Ramiz Raja announced on Sunday.

He continued by saying that the series will be a great way to get ready for the circumstances they'll face in Australia for the T20 World Cup.

Before the T20 World Cup, which is slated to take place in Australia in October of this year, a tri-nation series featuring the hosts New Zealand, Pakistan, and Bangladesh has been planned.

Speaking to the media, PCB Chairman Raja announced that the Babar Azam-led team would be competing in the New Zealand event.

“Before the 1992 World Cup, the side had arrived in Australia a month ago and we had ample opportunity to prepare for matches by playing against the local teams. I was behind PCB’s international department to somehow find a way that our team can play six to seven games before the World Cup. The pitches in New Zealand also have bounce and pace, the side will benefit from playing matches there," Raja said.

The tri-nation competition, where teams will play each other twice before the competition final, is anticipated to begin in the first week of October.

Pakistan will also host seven T20 Internationals against England which is slated to begin on September 15.
