Prithvi Shaw shares two different Instagram stories after India snub and unusual opening stand with Jaiswal

Shaw didn't find a place in India's 17-member squad for the two T20Is against Ireland.

Prithvi Shaw | GettySwashbuckling opener Prithvi Shaw on Thursday (June 16) hogged the headlines for uploading two different stories on his Instagram account in the space of a few hours.

Shaw’s first story was a motivational quote that reads: "Don't give up, your miracle is on the way," probably referring to his non-selection in India’s T20I squad for the upcoming series against Ireland.

On Wednesday (June 15), BCCI named a 17-member squad for the two-T20I tour of Ireland. With senior players being rested to prepare for the England Test, there was an opportunity for many youngsters including Rahul Tripathi, who received his maiden call-up.

However, Shaw's name didn’t feature in the list which also had the likes of Ruturaj Gaikwad, Ishan Kishan, Sanju Samson, and Suryakumar Yadav in it.

Prithvi Shaw last played for India during the white-ball tour to Sri Lanka in 2021. The right-hander had a decent IPL 2022 for Delhi Capitals, scoring 283 runs at an impressive strike rate of 152.97 before he missed the last few games due to Typhoid.

His second Instagram story was a hilarious one. He shared a screengrab from the popular Hollywood movie 'The Avengers: Infinity War' to demonstrate his bizarre opening partnership with Yashasvi Jaiswal in the Ranji Trophy semi-final between Mumbai and Uttar Pradesh.

Notably, Shaw and Jaiswal were involved in a 66-run opening stand in the second innings but the latter didn’t contribute a run in the partnership while 64 of those were scored by the Mumbai skipper.

Mumbai finished the third day on 133/1, extending their second innings lead to 346 runs. Yashasvi Jaiswal remained unbeaten on 35 alongside Armaan Jaffer, who ended the day on 32 not out.
