Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on Wednesday (15th June) named the 17-member squad for the upcoming away T20I series against Ireland.

India will play two T20Is on their tour to Ireland. The series will kick start on 26th June followed by the second match to be played on 28th. Both the games will take place at The Village in Dublin.

The squad will be led by Hardik Pandya with Bhuvneshwar Kumar being his deputy. The squad is almost the same as the one which is currently playing the ongoing T20I series against South Africa.

From the current team, Rishabh Pant and Shreyas Iyer have been rested and will join the Test squad in England. In their place, Sanju Samson and Suryakumar Yadav, who was out due to injury, have been recalled to the squad and also Rahul Tripathi earned his maiden call-up.

The squad saw almost every expected player in it, but there was no place for Prithvi Shaw, who last played for India during the white-ball tour to Sri Lanka in 2021. The right-hander also had a decent IPL 2022 as he scored 283 runs at a staggering strike rate of 152.97 before he missed the last few games due to Typhoid

Fans were disappointed with Shaw’s non-selection as they felt that the right-hander deserved a place in the squad.
