Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) on June 2 announced the appointment of legendary fast bowler Lasith Malinga as the ‘bowling strategy coach’ of the Sri Lankan team for the white-ball series against Australia at home, starting on June 7.
He held the same role with Sri Lanka when the team toured Australia earlier this year. SLC said that Malinga would provide tactical insight and technical expertise to the Sri Lanka team.
The Lankan board also believes that the legendary pacer’s experience will help the team prepare for the upcoming limited-overs series against Australia.
In a statement, SLC stated: “Malinga, during the tour, will support Sri Lanka’s bowlers, providing tactical insight and technical expertise to help the on-field execution of strategic plans.”
The statement further reads: “Sri Lanka Cricket is confident that Malinga’s vast experience and renowned death-bowling expertise, especially in the T20 format, will help the team immensely going into this all-important series.”
