Wicketkeeper-batter Wriddhiman Saha is back in the limelight once again over his equation with the Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB) a day after he was named in the Bengal squad for the Ranji Trophy 2021-22 quarter-finals on May 17.

On Tuesday, the Bengal team senior selectors included Saha in the squad for the Ranji Trophy quarterfinal clash against Jharkhand. However, according to sources close to Saha, the 37-year-old, who had pulled out of the Ranji league stage citing "personal reasons", was not consulted before naming him in the squad.

It is also being said that Saha wants to leave the Bengal cricket, as the 37-year-old is miffed with the way that he has been treated by the CAB and has also reportedly sought a No Objection Certificate (NOC) to leave his domestic side.

"He is not interested in playing for Bengal anymore and sought for a NOC. He is very annoyed with one CAB office-bearer (joint secretary Debabrata Das) who has apparently questioned his commitment. He wants a public apology," the source told PTI.

After learning of the addition to the Bengal side, Saha contacted CAB President Avishek Dalmiya and requested that NOC leave the side. He was reportedly so hurt by such allegations that he decided to cut all his ties with Bengal cricket regarding his commitments to the Bengal side.

The CAB remained mum on the issue and president Dalmiya issued a statement late in the evening, saying: "Any discussion that happens between a player and an organization is strictly between that player and the organization. I would like to completely refrain from making any comments at this stage."

Saha informed the CAB early to give them time to choose an alternative player for the Ranji Trophy quarterfinals. He has decided to submit his written request after the conclusion of the IPL 2022.
