Bangladesh, on Monday (February 21), announced a 14-member squad for the upcoming two T20I matches against Afghanistan next month at home.
The series will mark the return of Shakib Al Hasan in the shortest format of the game, as he had missed Bangladesh’s most recent three-match T20I series against Pakistan last year due to injury.
His return to the Afghanistan series will be a big boost for Bangladesh to end their eight-match losing streak.
Mushfiqur Rahim and Liton Das, who were both dropped for the T20I series against Pakistan, have also returned to the Bangladesh squad for the upcoming home T20I series against Afghanistan.
Meanwhile, the two uncapped stars, Munim Shahriar and Yasir Ali were also named in the 14-man squad for Afghanistan T20Is after their impressive performances in the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) 2022.
Notably, Shahriar, made 178 runs in 6 matches opening the ininnings for Fortune Barishal, while Yasir scored 219 runs in 11 matches for Khulna Tigers, for a strike rate of 139.49.
The two-match T20I series between Bangladesh and Afghanistan will be played on March 3 and 5 in Dhaka after the three-match ODI series, beginning on February 23.
