Ranji Trophy 2022: Bihar’s Sakibul Gani becomes first batter to score triple ton on FC debut; makes 341 v Mizoram

Shakibul Gani broke the record of Ajay Rohera's 267 runs | TwitterBihar batter Sakibul Gani became the first batter in First-Class cricket history to score a triple hundred in his debut match when he stroked 341 runs in the ongoing Ranji Trophy 2022 match against Mizoram at the JU Second Campus, Salt Lake, in Kolkata.

Bihar captain Ashutosh Aman won the toss and chose to bat first. Opener Yashasvi Rishav made 38 and Lakhan Raja made 25 runs, but the team faltered to 71/3. Then debutant Sakibul Gani and Babul Kumar got together and strung a 538-run partnership for the 4th wicket.

22-year-old Gani was the toast of the innings, as he beat the record of Ajay Rohera of Madhya Pradesh who had scored 267* on FC debut v Hyderabad in the 2018/19 Ranji Trophy.

Gani reached the triple-century mark in 387 balls with 50 fours on Day 2 of the ongoing Ranji Trophy match at the Jadavpur University Campus 2nd Ground in Kolkata.

He finally fell for 341 runs in 405 balls with 56 fours and 2 sixes. Babul Kumar also scored a double ton and at the time of writing this piece, had made 214 runs with 27 fours and 1 six in 381 balls.
