According to a report in 'The Australian', Katich decided to quit his position as assistant coach after a disagreement on how the team was being managed and he also felt that the franchise disregarded the pre-auction plans.

Meanwhile, a spokesman for SRH told Cricbuzz on Friday (February 18) that Katich made himself unavailable because of bio-security restrictions and family issues.

"We will be announcing a replacement soon," the spokesman said.

Last year, the Hyderabad-based franchise was involved in a major controversy after they removed David Warner as captain and also ousted him from the playing XI. Since then, Trevor Bayliss and Brad Haddin have also departed as coaches.

For the upcoming IPL season, former Australia all-rounder Tom Moody would be coaching SRH while Kane Williamson would be leading the side.

In the IPL 2022 mega auction, SRH had picked the likes of Aiden Markram, Nicholas Pooran, Kartik Tyagi and Marco Jansen, among others to bolster their squad.
