Carlos Brathwaite names his newborn daughter after iconic Eden Gardens Stadium

Brathwaite had hit four consecutive sixes to help West Indies win the 2016 T20 World Cup at Eden Gardens.

West Indies cricketer Carlos Brathwaite and his wife Jessica Felix Brathwaite were blessed with a baby girl on Tuesday (February 8). He shared a photo of his daughter on Instagram and also revealed her name.

Brathwaite, who had hit four consecutive sixes to win the T20 World Cup for West Indies in 2016, has named his daughter after the iconic ground in Kolkata, Eden Gardens. West Indies had defeated England at the Eden Gardens to lift their second T20 World Cup trophy.

"Remember the name, Eden Rose Brathwaite. Date of birth 6th February 2022, Daddy promises that he will love you with all his heart. Thank you, Jessica Fleksy Brathwaite, you are so strong. I am sure you will be a good mother, Love you both," his post read.

 

It was former West Indies cricketer Ian Bishop, who was in the commentary box when Brathwaite pulled off a memorable run-chase with 19 runs required in the final over. He famously said, “Carlos Brathwaite, Remember the name ” after the winning six by the Caribbean batter.

Currently, the 33-year-old isn't part of the West Indies team, who are on the India tour for three-ODIs and an equal number of T20Is.
