IND v WI 2022: Indian cricket fraternity reacts to Rishabh Pant opening in second ODI

Fans were taken aback by the Indian team management's move to send Rishabh Pant at the opening spot in the second ODI against West Indies on Wednesday (February 9). Pant was paired up with skipper Rohit Sharma, as India replaced Ishan Kishan with KL Rahul in the playing eleven.

The social media was buzzing with tweets on the move to send Pant to open the innings. There were mixed takes on trying out the India wicket-keeper at the opening spot, although the move didn't pay off as Pant was dismissed after scoring 18 runs.

India were asked to bat first after West Indies skipper Nicholas Pooran won the toss in the second ODI at the Narendra Modi Stadium. They are ahead in the series after winning the first match by 6 wickets. 

Rohit couldn't bat longer as he got out to Kemar Roach after scoring five runs. There was extra bounce and that troubled Rohit, who nicked the ball to the keeper.

After Pant's dismissal in 12th over, India were two down on 39 runs, with KL Rahul joining Virat Kohli, who is playing his 100th ODI at home.
