New Zealand head coach Gary Stead said that his side is very confident that skipper Kane Williamson's elbow injury will heal correctly. The Kiwi captain has been bugged by his troublesome elbow for quite some time now.
The 31-year-old recently missed the Test series against Bangladesh and is also not named for the upcoming South Africa Test series. There have been many concerns and speculations that he could be permanently plagued by his long-standing elbow injury.

Speaking to New Zealand media, head coach Gary Stead said that they are confident that Kane Williamson's injury will get right completely. He pointed out that tendon injuries are likely to go about in 18 months and hopefully skipper will recover within that time.
“We are very confident it will get right completely. A lot of tendon injuries like this, they do linger for a while. At the moment, he has been somewhere around 14-15 months. They say they are usually gone in about 18 months' time, so let's hope that is the case with Kane,” Gary Stead said.
Gary Stead further revealed that Kane Williamson is back in the nets and is batting for 20-25 minutes.
"He's back batting, he's batting for periods of 20-25 minutes this week. But the thought of him batting for four or five hours in a test match probably means a good chance he goes backwards again,” he said.
It is learned that Kane Williamson is likely to make a comeback in the limited-over series against the Netherlands in March, this year, followed by the IPL 2022, where he will captain the Sunrisers Hyderabad team.
