Raina, in an interview with Neelesh Mishra, had said that he is always wary of saying anything that would remind his father about the tragedy in Kashmir.

“There are certain things that my father doesn’t want to remember, what happened with Kashmiri brahmins. So papa thought it better to take his family to a safe environment, that was one of the toughest decisions that papa made.

“He had a house there and his brothers. It was a wise decision, he had four sons and then I was born."

Renowned journalists Boria Majumdar, Vikrant Gupta and former India cricketers Harbhajan Singh and Gautam Gambhir posted tweets expressing their condolences to Raina and his family.
