R Ashwin, Rohit Sharma, Rishabh Pant make it to the ICC Men's Test Team of the Year 2021

Three Indian players got included in the ICC Men's Test Team of the Year 2021 which was revealed on Thursday (January 20). Rohit Sharma, Rishabh Pant, and R Ashwin are the three Indian players who have been chosen. New Zealand skipper Kane Williamson has been named as the captain of the team. 

Apart from Williamson, only one other Kiwi cricketer got named in the team of the year, Kyle Jamieson. There are three cricketers from the Pakistan team as well -- Fawad Alam, Shaheen Shah Afridi and Hassan Ali.

From India, Rohit had a great year with the bat in the red-ball format as he scored 906 runs at an average of 47.68 with two centuries. He played as an opener in the team and proved his worth with important knocks.

Ashwin, on the other hand, was named Player of the Series in the home Test series against England and New Zealand last year. He picked up 54 wickets in 9 matches at an average of 16.64.

Not to forget, the off-spinner contributed with the bat as well as he scored 355 runs at an average of 25.35, including a century against England in Chennai.

Team India wicketkeeper-batter Pant averaged 39.36 to score 748 runs in 12 matches. His year started with a memorable knock at the Gabba against Australia, where he remained not out on 89 runs to take India home. He also scored a hundred against England at Ahmedabad. 

England captain Joe Root is also named in the side, along with Australia's Marnus Labuschagne. Labuschagne is currently the number 1 Test batter, while Root is at the second spot.
